The Association of Applied Information Management Professionals (AIMP) was established in 2016 as a professional and examination body dedicated to the development and advancement of Applied Information Management in Nigeria.

AIMP is committed to regulating professional practice, establishing standards of knowledge and competence, conducting professional examinations, registering qualified practitioners, providing professional education and training, promoting research and innovation, and supporting continuing professional development.

Its professional mandate covers information management, information governance, records management, data governance, knowledge management, artificial intelligence governance, information security governance, digital transformation, research and related areas. The Association also works with educational institutions, professional bodies and other stakeholders to promote excellence in the profession.

Conflict of Interest

Members shall identify, disclose and appropriately manage any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest that may affect their professional independence or objectivity.

Confidentiality

Information obtained in the course of professional practice shall be treated with appropriate confidentiality and shall not be disclosed or used for personal benefit except where authorised, required by law or necessary to protect the public interest.

Continuing Professional Competence

Practising members are expected to maintain and improve their professional competence through education, research, training, professional development and participation in approved Continuing Professional Development programmes.

Practice Standards

The Council may issue professional standards, technical guidelines, codes of practice and practice advisories which shall be binding on members of the Association.
