Founded in 2012, the Association of Applied Information Management Professionals (AIMP) is the global professional body offering the Applied Certified Information qualification (FAIMP or MAIMP). From Dec 2017, AIMP recorded that it has 200 members and 86 students in Nigeria and diaspora. AIMP’s headquarters are in Nigeria with principal administrative office in Ogun State. AIMP works through a network of over 36 offices and centres and more than 100 Approved Employers worldwide, who provide employee development.

The term ‘Fellow’ in AIMP qualification refers to the highest award granted to qualified professionals.

Membership is a legally protected term. Individuals who describe themselves as Applied Information Managers must be members of AIMP and if they carry out public practice engagements, must comply with additional regulations such as holding a practicing certificate, carrying liability insurance and submitting to inspections.

AIMP works in the public interest, assuring that its members are appropriately regulated. It promotes principles-based regulation. AIMP actively seeks to enhance the value of applied information management in society through international research. It takes progressive stances on global issues to ensure ‘information management’ as a profession continues to grow in reputation and influence.
